Smart Grid and Smart Metering developments and players in Romania

Energy efficiency is a strategic priority for Romania. In the Romanian Energy Strategy, one of the new avenues for development of the Romanian energy sector is the SMART GRID DEVELOPMENT. Smart grids enable realtime communication with consumers, with better control and instant optimisation of energy generation and consumption.

FRD Center has been looking at the smart grid and smart metering developments in Romania and has noted certain opportunities for collaboration with foreign technology firms involved in this field.

A DEMO sector brief details some of the recent developments in the Smart Grid and Smart Metering field in Romania and provides profiles of some of the local players involved.

One example of locally developed solutions for smart metering is inteliGRID® developed by Flashnet, a Romanian technology research and development company that integrates the latest hardware and software solutions, creating and implementing intelligent energy management systems for cities and electric utilities.
