Importer-distributors of agricultural equipment in Romania register sales growth of over 20%

According to FRD Center analysis, there are approximately 130 importer-distributors of agricultural equipment in Romania. They have recorded a cumulated net turnover of over 413 million EUR in 2014, up by approximately 21% compared to 2013.

It is expected that 2015 will also be a very good year for the imports of agricultural machinery and farm equipment in Romania.

IPSO, part of the French Group Monnoyeur, is the main importer-distributor of agricultural machinery in Romania. Established in 1996, the company has 15 regional centres and offices in Romania. IPSO imports and distributes tractors, combines, ploughs, harrows, fertiliser distributors, harvesters, seeders, scarifiers, cultivators, balers, loaders etc. 

The main brands in its portfolio are: John Deere, Kuhn, Manitou, Bednar FMT, Perard, Geringhoff, Fliegl, Pichon, Kemper, Zurn, Grasdorf, Laforge, Papadopoulos or Eassymass. In 2014, IPSO has sold approximately 700 tractors and combines. At present, IPSO invests 15 million EUR in order to expand its dealer network and to modernise the existing centres.

IPSO has recorded a net turnover of approximately 110 million EUR in 2014, up by over 21% compared to 2013. The company has over 300 employees. IPSO has been exhibitor at various fairs, such as Agritechnica 2015 in Hanover, Indagra 2015 in Bucharest, Agromalim 2015 in Arad etc.

Chinese network equipment producer TP-Link has sold 600,000 routers in Romania this year. The company has a market share of 65%, according to its estimates. The total wireless routers market is estimated by TP-Link at about 950,000 units, 600,000 of which are delivered by the Chinese producer.

A total of 61% of the households in Romania have access to the internet at home, almost 67% of them being located in urban areas. Most of the connections used to access the internet are the fixed broadband connections (89.1%), followed by mobile broadband connections (29%), and narrowband connections (11.6%).

About 14,000 IT companies are currently operating in Romania, and about half of them are located in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, according to a study carried out by ARIES Transilvania, an organization created to support the local IT&C industry. Romanian IT companies had revenues of EUR 4 billion last year and employed about 75,500 people.
