Private dental services in Romania continue to develop in 2015

At present, the Romanian market of privately owned dental centres is very fragmented, consisting of over 13,000 dental practices - Dentist’s surgeries and Dental technique labs - all over the country.

The private dentistry is a growing industry in Romania. Some private centres that provide general medical services, such as Medlife, Sanador or Medsana, are also active in the dental services segment.

During the past years, the private sector of the cosmetic dentistry treatments has recorded a significant development in Romania, the most popular procedures provided by the private dental clinics including: tooth whitening (bleaching), porcelain veneers, gum re-contouring, bonding, dental jewels etc.

Romania is a fast growing destination for the dental services tourism, the main factors being the low prices and the high quality of the services provided. Water management investments in Romania

Local authorities in Romania are currently running 50 EU-financed projects of water supply, sewerage and wastewater treatment within the Operational Programme for Environment. Romania was allocated 3.15 billion EUR for this programme, 2.77 billion EUR of which represented EU money from the Cohesion Fund.

The Romanian EU Funds Minister, Marius Nica, announced the completion of the Operational Programme Large Infrastructure Mare (POIM), which provides about 3 billion EUR allocated for investment in infrastructure.

Therefore, starting with July 2015, for Romania will be available in total, along with money from the Romanian budget, some 9.41 billion EUR for transport infrastructure, environment and energy. One of the priorities is the need to implement measures regarding the preparation of investment projects in the water / wastewater sector to be financed by the Structural Funds and investment in 2015-2020.

According to the Romanian Minister for Environment, Water and Forests, Romania’s water sector needs investments of EUR 20 billion. The amount is required to achieve the targets on water assumed by Romania. Investments in water are the biggest planned in Romania’s environment; most of it is for fresh water, sewerage and wastewater treatment, for flood risk management and for protection against coastal erosion, the minister mentioned. The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forestry considers them a priority in the next EU budget.

The Operational Programme Large Infrastructure allocated about 3 billion EUR, including national co-financing and performance reserve, which only partially cover the investment needs of projects in the pipeline. Additional funding will be provided through the National Rural Development Programme (worth some 9.5 billion EUR), prioritizing projects in water and wastewater infrastructure in villages of 2,000 - 10,000 inhabitants.

Most of the investments are needed to develop the infrastructure for drinking water, sewerage and wastewater treatment. They are also necessary for the flood risk management and coastal erosion protection.
